Transitioning Your Summer Wardrobe Into Autumn Ensembles

While no one likes to see the summer go, we can definitely get excited about fall fashions that we’ve been waiting eagerly to wear as the weather cools down. Don’t tuck away your summer styles just yet, however—now is a great time to make use of your entire wardrobe and combine those warm and cold weather pieces together for a look that embraces what we love about both seasons!

Layering is a major trend that we’ll repeatedly mention; from layering with accessories (read: scarf season) to jackets and outerwear, to layering sweaters atop button downs or fitted blouses, it’s easy to transform your wardrobe season to season!

Pair a favorite sundress or shirt dress with a leather jacket or blazer – pull the look together with booties and a scarf. Silk dresses are also a great option because they are a breezy choice for the summer, but dress up nicely for cooler weather with a jacket, blazer, and boots.

Maxi skirts are also a nice option if you tend to gravitate towards skirts and dresses rather than pants — we like black maxi skirts (leg slit optional) or patterned maxis with a solid blouse.

On Leather

If you don’t have a favorite leather jacket yet (or one at all), consider it an investment for a staple that you’ll wear all year long – they transition well for multiple year round nighttime occasions as well as fall and winter daytime affairs.

Leather Pants/Shorts/Skirts

Speaking of leather–we are loving the continuing trend of leather pants, shorts, and skirts! They graced us with their presence this spring into summer, and now fabulously into fall. Pair with a flowing blouse (we like silk or chiffon) for casual workwear or running errands, or try a cutout crop top for a night on the town.

While we just mentioned leather shorts as a great transition piece, most other shorts can also transition well with the right mix of accessories. Use blazers, leather jackets, and booties to effortlessly transition your wardrobe.

Neutral booties (think black, nude, brown, camel) look great with denim cutoffs in the summer and transition well into the fall with dark denim, black skinny jeans, and all things leather.

Denim really can’t be beat any time of year. Cutoffs still work during this transition period, as long as – you guessed it – you layer them with scarves or outerwear.

Dark denim, boyfriend jeans, the new bell-bottom and flare trends, as well as your favorite go-to skinny jeans (in blue, black, or other color) make for an easy and trendy ensemble as well.
