Pool Party Dress Code – What to Wear to a Pool Party
1. Clearly, a Swimsuit.
Should you wear that blue sexy tankini or that classy polka dot bikini? How much body to cover? Is there a pool party etiquette when it comes to style? Is my body bikini-ready?
Choose your favorite style, whether it is a sexy bikini that will show off your curves, a flutter top to add some volume to your bust, or a classic one-piece to minimize unwanted bulge. A specific pool party dress code might be on the table though, so make sure you know what you are getting into!
Combine your suit with a lightweight flattering cover up. For pool party style, simple sarongs tied around your waist won’t do.
Wraps are a good choice, they cover only half of your suit. Button-front shirts also look great; look out for over-sized woven shirts in a light cotton blend. Casual dresses, caftans, full skirts, and shorts are also perfectly suitable to serve as your cover-up.
If a regular beach bag is a bit out of place, bring a tote instead. A tote of standard size should be just enough for a towel, phone in a waterproof case, and some extra clothes. Remember if you bring all of these items to really hit the pool party sweet spot you’ll need some luggage. Absolutely one of the pool party essentials.
Depending on the “fanciness” of the party, shoes can vary from rubber flip-flops to designer wedges. Speaking of fool-proof options: flat sandals almost never fail. Again, a specific dress code might specify something a bit higher class.
How to Complete the Outfit
Tip 2. In pursuit of the fashion oomph, don’t forget about the comfort. After all, being able to enjoy the party is the priority, isn’t it? Don’t wear heels unless they are comfortable and slip-proof. Forget about that bodycon dress you wanted to flaunt so badly, if it’s too tight to enjoy the steamy summer evening.
Tip 3. Queens have confidence and that is the most important piece of your look – carry yourself with confidence and remember to wear a waterproof mascara, panda eyes will blow all that confidence away.
Tip 4. Pack a set of extra clothes, even if you don’t plan to swim. People get thrown in water at pool parties, they say!
It’s the little details that make all the difference. Accessorize your look with bracelets, designer sunglasses, body jewelry, hats, or anything else that matches your party mood and brings a little evening flare to the look. It’s ok to allow yourself to wear something a bit garish, unusual, and attention-grabbing.
If you wear watches, make sure they are at least water-resistant (which is, by the way, not the same as waterproof.)
There is no shortage jewels that can complement a pool party outfit. Anklets are definitely on the list – they go very well with strapless sandals (while these are not pool party essentials, if you try it once it may be hard to forget).
